Letterboxing

Several years ago our family started a new tradition--Letterboxing. It's basically a big treasure hunt. It has taken us places that we wouldn't normally have gone, and we have seen things we wouldn't normally have seen. Most of them are outside in beautifully scenic places. It is a good way to get outside and enjoy nature, and to spend time together. The one we did today was not in beautiful or scenic place--across the street from a vet clinic--but we still had fun.

This is part of the "treasure" we were looking for--the logbook where we stamp our personal stamps in.

This is the stamp that we were looking for.

This is me stamping the stamp in my personal logbook.

This is Riley finding her own "treasure."

This is Valen posing for the camera. A side note--while posing for the picture her stamping was mussed.

This is what Justin looks like Letterboxing.

This is me, so gracefully putting the Letterbox back so that someone else can find it.
If you enjoy the outdoors and following clues, I would highly recommend this activity to you. As I said before, it gets you outdoors and find some pretty interesting places along the way. Check out the website at:

A day in Rochester

We went to the Strong Museum in Rochester yesterday. It was quite fun. Last time we went I couldn't get a picture of Valen in this room because it makes me motion sick to go in. Justin came with us this time so he was able to get this one.
Riley has started to LOVE Elmo. So her and I spent most of our time in the Seaseme Street section of the museum.
She enjoyed Elmo's bed because it had a perfect view of the Mr. Noodle television.
In the few minutes that we spent outside of Elmo's World, Riley liked the Story Land. She found a facination with setting and resetting the table in one of the cottages.
She also rather enjoyed the "sand box" by the Pirate ship.
WAIT!!! He's not Justin!!

Girl Scouts

Valen started Girl Scouts several months ago--we just missed the cookie sale when our troop started, but no worries we will hit you all this fall. For their second to last meeting they had a Hello Kitty Etiquette Tea Party. Apparently Hello Kitty consideres this to be proper chop stick eating.
